Arnold Schonberg would have turned 150 in September 2024. The legendary Juilliard String Quartet, led by violinist Robert Mann, had performed before the composer and recorded Arnold Schonberg's four string quartets twice during their long career — each time to great acclaim: in 1951/52 and in 1975. They are here complemented by two versions of the string trio, the Ode to Napoleon Bonaparte (with Glenn Gould on piano) and the sextet "Verklärte Nacht" (with Walter Trampler on viola and the young Yo-Yo Ma on cello). Sony Classical today presents all of the Juilliard Quartet's Schoenberg in a 7-disc box set.
