‘OXYMORE’ is Jean-Michel Jarre’s 22nd studio album, one of his most ambitious projects to date. A pioneer of musique concrète and electronic music, Pierre Henry had, during his lifetime, bequeathed a series of sounds to Jean-Michel Jarre, with the mutual wish of one day creating a new work. Oxymore, by incorporating some of these sounds, is above all a tribute to the French musique concrète school of thought without which today’s global electronic music would not exist as we know it. Conceived in multichannel and 3D spatialized sound, the album also offers a stereo version, as well as a binaural version accessible with standard audio headphones. It is the first project of this scale to go so far in audio innovation. As part of this immersive creation, Jean-Michel Jarre will also launch ‘OXYVILLE’, a virtual reality world accompanying the album’s release.
