A prodigy of the cello, Edgar Moreau made a name for himself in 2011 at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Competition, where he performed the Rococo Variations, a work that has become emblematic in his career. This album marks an important step for him, offering a refined interpretation of this piece alongside the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Michael Sanderling. This album, which also brings together Chopin's Cello Sonata with his longtime collaborator, pianist David Kadouch, pays homage to the Slavic repertoire with a touch of virtuosity and elegance. Edgar Moreau finely expresses the classical influence of Mozart that shines through in the Rococo Variations, while adding a personal sensitivity. Rococo is a rich musical journey, alternating between classical refinement and romantic passion, a true celebration of the cello.
