R&B/Soul goddess Deva Mahal, an iconoclastic singer and eclectic songwriter, is about to release her debut album, a highly anticipated record. Run Deep will be available on Motéma Music on March 23, and follows her first EP, the self-titled Deva. Run Deep is produced by Scott Jacoby (Vampire Weekend, José James, Coldplay). A sure songwriting talent combines, and this is rare, with a breathtaking vocal genius. Deva Mahal (pronounced "Diva") steps into the spotlight with Run Deep, an album that includes 12 tracks of soul that send shivers down your spine and set your heart racing, yet with a decidedly modern approach. Born with the blues in her blood (her father is none other than blues legend Taj Mahal, her aunt the late Carole Fredericks (of Fredericks-Goldman - Jones)), this keenly perceptive singer-songwriter has crafted a unique sound that blends modern R&B, indie pop, soul, rock, and gospel.
