For this new album, Alexandre Tharaud opens the doors to his imaginary library and guides our gaze toward the inexhaustible diversity of Bach's faces. The carefully selected pieces appear as an act of transmission that will resonate for each listener like the reminder of a distant memory or the opening of a window onto the unknown. Alexandre takes on the role of a storyteller, and with him we discover a thousand lands we thought were familiar. Here he writes for his own hands and redraws the immortal lines of the Sicilianas from the Organ Concerto and the Flute Sonata, as well as many others. Not limiting himself to these jewels whose meditative purity resonates so particularly in our time, he also turns his attention to the variety of Bach's styles and paints a broad portrait of the composer's facets.
