About
Mayhem, Norwegian black metal pioneers from Oslo since 1984.
Rooted in Oslo's 1980s metal underground, Mayhem built their reputation on a turbulent history combined with pioneering black metal. Their early demos and later albums often featured harsh production and raw intensity. Despite lineup turmoil including tragic deaths and violent episodes, Mayhem's output remains influential with albums spanning from the 1987 Deathcrush EP to recent works like Daemonic Rites (2023). Their vinyl releases include limited-edition pressings and variants appealing to collectors and audiophiles alike.
Mayhem's sound evolved across decades but stayed true to black metal's core: fast tempos, blast beats, shrieking vocals, and chilling atmospheres.
