About
Formed by Abbath and Demonaz in Bergen, Immortal debuted with a strong black metal identity quickly gaining attention worldwide. Their 1992 debut album "Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism" set a foundational tone with its dark, raw sound. Over the following decade, albums such as "Pure Holocaust" (1993), "Battles In The North" (1995), and "At The Heart Of Winter" (1999) showcased a progression towards complex, heavy riffs and the integration of heavy metal elements. The band signed with Nuclear Blast in 2002, releasing "Sons Of Northern Darkness" that year, blending speed and melody with a distinctly cold and expansive sound. After splitting in 2003, they reformed in 2006, continuing to impact black metal.
