About
INXS, Australian rock evolution from 1977 through three decades.
Eight key vinyls tracked live: original 1987 Kick and 1984 The Swing among top rarities.
Formed in Sydney in August 1977 under the name The Farriss Brothers, INXS quickly established a signature sound combining alternative rock, pop, and new wave. The core lineup included members Andrew Farriss, Jon Farriss, Tim Farriss, Michael Hutchence, Kirk Pengilly, and Garry Gary Beers. The band developed nationally with early performances and lengthy touring, moving from Sydney to Perth in 1978 to write and perform extensively. Their debut album was released in 1980, followed by a steady output throughout the decade, reaching major commercial success internationally. Albums such as Kick (1987), The Swing (1984), and Listen Like Thieves (1985) exhibit their evolution towards polished pop rock with hits that became staples on rock and pop charts worldwide.
