Arch Enemy, Swedish melodic death metal since 1996 with dynamic lineups.
Arch Enemy emerged in the mid-1990s as a force in the melodic death metal scene, rooted in Swedish metal traditions. Founded by guitarist Michael Amott, the band started with their 1996 debut "Black Earth," recorded with producer Fredrik Nordström. Swedish city Halmstad marks their origin, and their early sound was shaped by guitarists Michael and Christopher Amott, drummer Daniel Erlandsson, and vocalist Johan Liiva. Through the years, their music evolved with new members like bassist Sharlee D'Angelo and vocalists Angela Gossow in 2001, followed by Alissa White-Gluz in 2014. Arch Enemy’s catalog includes 24 vinyl releases, featuring key albums and recent 2023 reissues on Century Media.
