For the first time released on vinyl: Sting made as much of a mark with Police, whose “Roxanne” and “Message In A Bottle” are known to everyone, as he did solo, a career he began in the mid-80s. This is marked by a few essential albums, among which the early The Dream Of The Blue Turtles and Bring On The Night stand out most, seeing him join his talent with some of the most innovative jazz musicians: saxophonist Branford Marsalis, who played with Miles Davis, one of the latter’s best arrangers, Gil Evans, or Darryl Jones, also noted with Miles and later with the Rolling Stones in place of Bill Wyman. Brand New Day is, at the dawn of the third millennium, the latest record released by Sting, still very busy with his activities within the humanitarian association Amnesty International. Passionate, like his friend Peter Gabriel, about world music (he sang alongside Youssou N'Dour), he delivers here the best of his art in the company of soul genius Stevie Wonder and raï singer Cheb Mami.
