Spoon's tenth album, *Lucifer on the Sofa*, is alive, vital, and arguably the band's strongest work to date. It's a rock'n'roll record, made in Texas. Recorded over the past two years in the band's hometown of Austin, these songs feel like the culmination of Spoon's career, while also marking an ascent to something stronger, wilder. From the out-of-tune guitars that anchor "The Hardest Cut" to the saxophone-laden surrealism of the introspective title track, "Lucifer on the Sofa" offers the physical sensation of a band pushing out the walls of a packed concert venue.
