An islet, an isolated element within a different whole. For his new album, Sheldon, an emblematic rapper from the 75e Session collective, continues his introspective work on organic compositions, filled with the many references that shape the artist’s musical universe. Produced by Epektase and mixed by Sheldon himself at Studio Winslow, the project leaves plenty of room for guitar and the rapper’s 60s/70s Rock influences such as Bowie and the Beatles. It also features Soul, R&B, Lo-Fi and Jazz influences, pushing even further the meeting of rap with other musical genres. The islet metaphor continues into the visual universe built around the album, where the central element is a monolith used as a representation of isolation and emptiness. Made up of four mirrored faces, this imposing artifact represents both the islet and the album’s message: the central element is not the main subject, Sheldon, but rather what he tells us about the world around him.
