On his self-titled album POUYA, the Miami artist steps away from the world that built him to enter a world that has been calling him for years. Known for his hard-hitting, fast-paced rap and underground roots, Pouya sheds expectations and dives headfirst into a rawer, more vulnerable sound, trading 808s for guitars and hooks for raw emotion. This is not a rap album. It is something else. Leaning toward alternative rock, post-grunge, and even touches of early 2000s emo, POUYA is powerful, emotional, and unfiltered. It is Pouya at his boldest, and perhaps his most personal. You can hear the freedom in his voice, the pain in the distortion, and the evolution in his songwriting. It is still Pouya through and through, but it is a version of him that has been simmering in the background, waiting for the right moment to come to life.
