After "Et le vent ?", Jumo continues his sonic and visual explorations with a new full-length release: "memory". From archive images gleaned from the depths of the web to house and techno sounds wrested from old electronic machines, the producer works over the traces of the past to create a resolutely contemporary work. In "memory", memories serve as fuel for dance and reflection, far from any nostalgia or easy sentiment. Jumo, whose real name is Clément Leveau, is a producer, composer, and visual artist from Angers. Self-taught, he has developed a singular universe blending atmospheric electronic music and visual experimentation. Noticed by Nowadays Records, he made a name for himself with a series of EPs and singles, including Aléa, Nomade, and Ville. In 2021, he released his first album "Et le vent ?" where he collaborated with many artists such as Léonie Pernet, Pénélope Antena, Awir Léon, and Hyacinthe. His style, both melancholic and striking, is affirmed with tracks like L'Exode, Première Vie and Minuit, which illustrate his taste for ethereal sonic textures moving between softness and urgency. With several million streams on streaming platforms, Jumo has established himself as a key figure on the French electronic scene. Alongside his musical projects, he co-founded the collective Cela, through which he explores the links between music and visual arts, thus strengthening his multidisciplinary approach. Now, Jumo is also turning to composing music for films and documentaries, bringing his unique sonic touch to cinematic projects. He notably signed the original scores for the documentaries La Flamme Ukrainienne and Comme si j'étais morte, marking a new stage in his artistic journey. Always in search of innovation, he is now taking a more club-oriented turn, inspired by 90s techno and IDM while continuing to explore the boundaries between electronic music and visual storytelling. In his first single titled phili, Jumo shares his nostalgia through memories of childhood and adolescence, punctuating the track like fragments or slightly blurred flashes. As he writes, he holds on to this feeling where all these memories, in their multitude, end up blending together, then fading, but which we all try to cling to a little. The poetic dimension of the track brings out this sometimes melancholic nostalgia, notably through the use of certain sounds (synthesizers and drum machines from that era). Yet the driving bassline accompanied by a powerful kick marks a form of happy urgency, as if not to forget. To live the moments rather than remember the memories. tgthr was born from this reflection. Inspired by the sounds and textures of 90s techno and house movements, tgthr blends raw and organic sounds, marked by the striking kicks of the 909 and the saturated, sometimes airy textures of the MS20. Like some of his other tracks (Et le vent ?, L'Exode, etc.), this one begins with a long progressive build-up giving way to a sustained kick and a minimalist bassline where the elements are added one after the other, moving from melancholy to euphoria, and letting the tension rise until the end. lula is a nearly eight-minute sonic journey, raw and cinematic. Jumo composed it like a road movie, inspired notably by the cinema of David Lynch and by his cult film, Wild at Heart (Sailor & Lula). The track is structured in three acts: the first part plunges us into a dark and intense atmosphere, halfway between cold wave, post-punk and raw techno. Then comes a long, airy and disorienting bridge, marked by a deconstructed lead with hard dance and gabber accents. It is the transition that gives way to light: the main theme reappears, transformed, and carried by a new bass harmony. The track then rises into a euphoric, liberating, almost cathartic final build. A breath of hope at the end of the turmoil. sirens is made up of synthetic voices that gradually layer over one another, until forming a whole, becoming a single hypnotic and intoxicating theme, a soft and unreal cry that would almost make us forget who we are and what we are doing here. sirens is the song of free souls who dance, who are drawn to one another and who flee a reality that is sometimes difficult; it is the echo of a suspended moment, between a desire to escape and the fear of falling back. Like in Greek mythology, when you listen to the song of the sirens, you forget yourself, you let yourself be carried, swept away.
