The ultra-rare private press from 1976 by Jaye P. Morgan, produced by David Foster and featuring the cream of the jazz and funk scene in Los Angeles, is finally being reissued by Wewantsounds. This forgotten classic, recorded in Los Angeles at the legendary Sound City Studios, is David Foster's first true production, two years before he produced Earth, Wind & Fire's album I Am and became one of L.A.'s most popular producers. Featuring an array of exceptional musicians including singer and arranger Bill Champlin (Sons of Champlin), guitarist Jay Graydon, Harvey Mason, Ed Greene, Ray Parker Jr., Tower of Power, Ernie Watts, and many others, the album is a sophisticated funk orgy on par with the best productions of Quincy Jones from that era. Bringing together the finest West Coast musicians, this album marked a bold step for Morgan, who had found success in the 50s and 60s as an actress and popular singer in the vein of Doris Day. By hiring the then 27-year-old Foster, she made a masterstroke as he had yet to produce any notable hits. With masterful interpretations of iconic tracks such as "Seems So Long" by Stevie Wonder and "Can't Hide Love" by Earth, Wind & Fire, along with a selection of carefully chosen original songs, the sound alternates between pure, hard funk and mid-tempo soul ballads. They certainly made this album one of the most expensive privately pressed records of the time! The reason this album was never widely released remains a mystery, but here it is with remastered sound and the original cover for the delight of funk fans. The LP edition includes the original 4-page insert with credits and photos.
