Grinderman was born in 2004 when Nick Cave was working on the Bad Seeds' album Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus. With Martyn Casey, Warren Ellis, and Jim Sclavunos, he developed a rawer, wilder sound. With the help of producer Nick Launay, they recorded their first album, Grinderman, released on March 5, 2007 (including the singles "No Pussy Blues" and "Get It On"). Eco-friendly black vinyl version.
