Trumpeter daoud shakes up jazz with an “ok” that is as gentle as it is devastating. With ok, his first album on ACT, French trumpeter daoud delivers an intimate and offbeat manifesto. Across 14 tracks, he explores the resigned acceptance of what cannot be changed, between humor, melancholy, chaos, and tenderness. Created in the studio with his close musicians, ok is a jazz record unlike any other. Enriched by meticulous production work and international guests (Rosie Frater-Taylor, corto.alto, Ludivine Issambourg...), it blends jazz, hip-hop, rock, and even drum’n’bass as so many emotional textures. Between sincerity and irony, fragility and mischief, ok evokes that familiar tension of the “I’m fine” we say without really believing it. A contrasting work, marked by a strong visual identity and a rare sense of musical storytelling.
