Initially scheduled for release on 10/7 With its elegant sleeve photographed by Karl Lagerfeld, "If.." is presented, like its predecessor "Voleur de feu", with an LP and an EP, but this time the flagship track is on the LP: the third track on the first side, the ballad "On The Road Again" was to become an immense classic, celebrating adventure, friendship and letting go – "We were young and broad-shouldered / Waiting for death to brush past us". This song and album bear the imprint of Lavilliers' collaboration with Chilean pianist and composer Sebastian Santa Maria. And the singer-songwriter fully and solely took on the role of album producer.
