Formed in the late 70s, drawing inspiration from punk and glam (Peter Murphy's voice is sometimes surprisingly close to Bowie’s), Bauhaus quickly became a cult band and contributed to the emergence of the 'goth' wave by playing cavernous and haunting music.
This album is the last of the lineup before their breakup, but it is also their best, the most varied. It starts with the hit, "She's In Parties," now a 'goth' classic, and concludes with the very beautiful "Hope." David Jay (bassist) and Daniel Ash (guitarist) are omnipresent on this record, which in many ways foreshadows the music they would produce with Love And Rockets.
