How much does a pop vinyl pre-order cost?

It depends on the store and the edition. A standard black vinyl is usually the cheapest version, while limited color variants, double LPs and deluxe editions cost more. Compare the offers listed for the exact edition on Vinyles.com to see the current prices from several partner stores.

Can the price of a vinyl pre-order change?

Yes. Each store sets its own price and can change it before release, up or down. Some stores guarantee the price shown when you order, others do not. Check the store's terms and keep comparing offers up to release day if the price matters to you.

Should I choose the color variant or black vinyl?

For collecting, a limited color variant is more sought after and can gain value once it sells out. For listening, standard black vinyl is often the quietest and cheapest option. If the music is all that matters, the standard edition is usually the smart choice.

Why does one pop album come in so many versions?

Labels split major pop releases into several variants to appeal to collectors and give different stores their own exclusives. Each version has its own listing. Compare the color, the cover and any bonus content before you place your pre-order, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

Pop Vinyl Pre-orders: New Albums, Color Variants and Collector Editions

Why pre-order pop records?

Pop vinyl pre-orders have become almost standard for major releases. A big pop album is often announced in several editions on day one: standard black vinyl, color variants, alternate covers, sometimes a copy with a signed art card. Limited editions go fast, and some are exclusive to a single store. Ordering before release lets you pick your version and compare offers from partner stores.

The current lineup mixes international pop with French pop: Charli XCX, Anastacia, Paul Simon, Elvis Presley and Marc Almond on one side, and on the other Zazie, La Grande Sophie, Tryo and Nouvelle Vague, the French band known for bossa nova-style covers of punk and new wave songs. New albums and anniversary reissues sit side by side.

Variants and exclusive editions: picking the right version

In pop, one album can come in four, five or more versions, each with its own listing. Sometimes the only difference is the vinyl color; sometimes it is the cover or bonus tracks. Before you order, read the store's product page so you know exactly which edition you are pre-ordering, and compare it with the standard edition, which is often cheaper and easier to find after release.
