The warm and captivating voice of Zé Luís, after having sung for years for the Cape Verdean audience alone, is finally revealed on record. Zé Luís, soon to be 60 and a carpenter by trade, has always had music as his only great passion; an essential part of his life that he practiced for his own pleasure, with a certain flair. But today, at the age when some retire, Zé Luís feels ready to share this art that he cultivated solo in the confidentiality of his island. SERENATA IS AN EXUBERANT AND LIVELY ALBUM YET SOFT AS SILK. The relaxing vibrations of Zé Luís's tenor voice come in counterpoint to the rhythmic waves of the guitars and cavaquinho of his string trio.
