Mutant, in partnership with Back Lot Music and Focus Features, is proud to present the very first physical edition of the soundtrack composed by Oscar®-winning Volker Bertelmann for Edward Berger’s Conclave. Following their award-winning 2022 collaboration on All Quiet on the Western Front, Berger and Bertelmann plunge us here into the high-tension events unfolding behind closed doors during the Catholic Church’s process of electing the new pope. A unique ritual, dark secrets, betrayals, and political manipulation: Conclave holds up a gilded mirror to modern democratic mechanisms. “Bertelmann is a master at knowing when to raise the temperature, and this soundtrack takes the tension to its peak,” says Mo Shafeek, co-founder of Mutant. “The recurring main melody is striking and mesmerizing. The shrill strings swirl in stereo and bounce like the fragile allegiances among the cardinals, adding mystery to every twist and turn. It’s the triumphant follow-up to an already successful modern classic.”
