Violons barbares is proof, three times over, that the culture each person carries can be enriched without fear by the contributions of others. Three musicians from Mongolian, Bulgarian and French backgrounds shape a highly original soundscape; in concert, their cohesion always hits the mark, and their first album is already a collector’s item. This second volume explores multiple directions without losing an ounce of its phenomenal energy! Dandarvaanch ig Enkhjargal: morin khoor, overtone singing Born in UlanBator, Mongolia, he grew up crossing the taiga with his family and their horse herds. He studied music at the Ulan Baator conservatory and became a disciple of the famous morin khoor master Professor Jamjan. Since 1989, he has lived in Europe (Germany) and has given many concerts with musicians from the world music scene. Dimitar Gougov: gadulka, vocals Born in Bulgaria, Dimitar has been immersed in traditional music since childhood. A disciple of the great gadulka master Atanas Vultchev and a member of the orchestra of the Philippe Koutev ensemble, he moved to France in 2000 and settled in Strasbourg, where he created the groups Boya and Violons Barbares. He writes and arranges songs for female voices and leads Balkan music workshops. Fabien Guyot: barbarian percussion, vocals After a classical music background at the CNR in Nice, he turned to Persian and Maghrebi finger percussion, finally opening his sonic horizon to anything that might make noise... A percussionist with the Strasbourg collective L'Assoce Pikante (Shézar, Grand Ensemble de la Méditerranée, Hijâz Car), he is currently performing on stage in the projects Les Violons Barbares, Furieuz Casrols (recycled percussion trio), Les Cavaliers de l'Aurès (creation by Houria Aichi and L'Hijâz Car) and Electrik GEM (electrified Mediterranean big band).
