Thundercat returns with Distracted, an album that marks both a creative turning point and a major event. Due out on April 3, 2026, exactly six years after his cult, GRAMMY-winning record It Is What It Is. This new project captures all the energy, eccentricity, and emotional depth of the artist. Conceived hand in hand with Greg Kurstin, the sonic architect behind giants such as Adele, Beyoncé, and Paul McCartney, Distracted unfolds a broader sonic palette than ever: 15 tracks where cosmic funk, futuristic pop, and raw vulnerability blend within a setting of lush arrangements. It features an exceptional cast: Mac Miller, A$AP Rocky, Willow Smith, Tame Impala, Channel Tres, as well as the signatures of visionary producers like Flying Lotus and Kenny Beats, giving each track the feel of a vibrant micro-universe. Over the past six years, Thundercat has never left the stage: prestigious collaborations (Silk Sonic, Gorillaz, Justice), arena tours with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Platinum certifications (Funny Thing, Them Changes), not to mention his unexpected appearance in the Star Wars universe, The Book of Boba Fett. Distracted is thus far more than a new album: it is the culmination of a period of exploration and a powerful return from an artist who has become an icon.
