Founded by guitarist Karl Groom in the south of England in 1988, Threshold is back with their 12th album. And once again the band pushes the boundaries of the genre. The very essence of the English music is still present with a Prog aspect very far from the boring demonstrative virtuosity that some might criticize the genre for. With Glynn Morgan imposing his vocal authority, the magical chemistry of the band that has always been part of Threshold holds an important place on Dividing Lines. The future of these tenacious veterans has never seemed so bright. The legend continues! While 'Legends Of The Shires' presented a standalone narrative that allowed Threshold to unleash their imagination, 'Dividing Lines' avoids the conceptual approach in favor of a more traditional group of songs, linked by a vague but undeniable common theme. "The legends convey more of a message of redemption, while 'Dividing Lines' has a tougher narrative - it's more of a collection of uplifting stories," explains West. "There is a political commentary woven throughout it. It reminds me a bit of our 2004 album 'Subsurface' in that way, which had songs like 'Mission Profile', 'Art Of Reason', and 'Opium', which dealt with topics like propaganda, censorship, and corruption. So it's in that realm. If there is a positive message in the album, it's about staying true to oneself, trusting your heart, and not getting swept away by what is happening around you. But we are living in uncertain times and the overall mood of the album reflects that.
