First released in a long-sold-out limited edition 7" box set, this album, now available on LP, brings together 10 previously unreleased Studio One tracks, originally pressed only as ultra-limited hand-etched dubplates on one side only, most of which sold out in less than two hours. Studio One Dub Plate Special gathers the 8 exclusive tracks from the box set, as well as two previously unreleased alternate versions, featuring Alton Ellis, Cedric Brooks, Brentford Road All Stars and Jacob Miller. Between Alton Ellis’s vibrant Black People, Brentford All Stars’ hypnotic cover of The World Is a Ghetto, the groovy instrumentals by Cedric Brooks and The Soul Brothers, and the deeper cuts by Alton & Zoot, George Phillip and Jacob Miller, this album is a truly unique Studio One release.
