Samory I's debut solo album, titled "Strength," will be released on November 17, 2023 (Overstand Entertainment/Easy Star Records). The album is produced by the prolific reggae producer Winta James (Protoje, Chronixx, Damian Marley) in collaboration with Jamaican artists Lila Iké, Jesse Royal, Mortimer, Grammy Award winner Kabaka Pyramid, and Capleton. Regarding this new project, Samory I states: "The album is called Strength. It represents the trials I have overcome, both mentally and physically, and is also a representation of my son, who is my main motivation behind this album." Echoing this sentiment, the album cover features a beautiful black and white photo of Samory with his son, taken by Yannick Reid. Samory's career has seen a rise in recent years following the release of his collaborative album "Black Gold" (2017) with Jamaican producer Rory "Stonelove" Gilligan, which helped make Samory a well-known name in the reggae world. The standout single "Rasta Nuh Gangsta" from this statement-rich Rastafarian opus has garnered over 10 million views on YouTube alone. Since then, Samory I has appeared on two Grammy-nominated reggae albums, including Jesse Royal's "Royal" (2021) for their collaboration "High Tide or Low" and Protoje's "Third Time's The Charm" (2022) for the track "Heavy Load." In 2022, Samory I released "Life Is Amazing" in collaboration with dancehall star Chi Ching Ching and "Love and Mercy" on the EP "Gratitude Riddim" (produced by Winta James), which has become one of his most streamed songs to date.
