Seventeen years after The Shape of Punk to Come, which has become a rock classic, the iconic Scandinavian hardcore band is back with a new album. It was produced by Nick Launay (Arcade Fire, Nick Cave), except for the tracks “Elektra” and “366,” which were co-written by Shellback, the renowned Swedish pop producer. “This is no longer a reunion,” explains Dennis Lyxzén (vocals). “It’s one of the most radical things we’ve done, musically and lyrically,” adds David Sandström (drums). Freedom is not a simple successor to The Shape of Punk to Come, but a new lease on life for REFUSED.
