Nathan Feuerstein is the man behind the initials NF, a name now associated with one of the most exciting artists on today’s rap/alternative scene. The life NF infuses into his music proves to be deeply personal and captivating, especially because NF has come a long way. His humble beginnings point to a tragedy typical of small towns: coming from Gladwin in Michigan, NF grew up in a family torn apart by drugs and violence. It was around the age of 12 that young Nathan discovered an outlet through music. Secluded in his parents’ van, he began writing songs for hours, recording his freestyles on a karaoke machine. Just as Nas had influenced the style of young Marshall Mathers, NF was first inspired by Eminem’s music. He then pushed himself to explore other rap styles (citing Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Drake, Royce da 5'9" and Slaughtahouse among his current favorites), thus allowing him to find his own voice. His melancholic lyrics, often centered on religion, are set to productions that are both dark and epic. Perception, his 3rd album, was released last October. The first single, Let You Down, caused a surprise by going to #1 on iTunes in the USA, and the same happened for the album. Since then, it has been a tidal wave: Let You Down is Top 5 in sales, streams, and airplay, from Canada to Australia via Germany, England and the Scandinavian countries. In France, the track is also rising fast: 20th on Shazam, 21st on Spotify, on playlists on NRJ, Skyrock and local radio stations. Let You Down will be certified gold in the coming weeks for more than 10 million stream equivalents in France.
