Since the trend is a comeback, some may be tempted to write that the new Neil Young is a masterpiece worthy of the seminal "Harvest" or "After the Goldrush," its illustrious predecessor released in 1970 that is often preferred. Without going that far, we allow ourselves to affirm here that the 2005 release from the most famous Canadian in the history of folk-rock is far from bad and indeed evokes, through a more vintage than natural country-rock sound, his recordings from the early 70s.
Very nostalgic and somewhat burdened with references, "Prairie Wind" shows a beautiful enthusiasm at the start ("The Painter"), before becoming relatively calm and meditative (starting from "Falling of the Face of the Earth"). With an intact voice, the brass ambiance and harmonica of "Far from Home" or the perfect strings of "It's a Dream" warm both the hearts and the adventurer that gives its title to an album with the looks of a future classic that, it is officially announced, should precede the famous reissue project of the artist's back catalog, awaited by his fans for about fifteen years.
