Although renowned for his ability to regularly revolutionize his music, Miles Davis had a clear vision. Thus, in 1959, he closed the album Kind of Blue with the track “Flamenco Sketches.” The following year, he released an entire album inspired by Spanish music. Sketches of Spain is yet another masterpiece. Hasta la revolución! About thirty musicians, from both jazz and classical backgrounds, participated in this album of lush richness. The trumpeter's partner on this project is Gil Evans, responsible for the arrangements and compositions. Far from any easy exotica, the two men produced a music of textures, complex and fluid, where the rigor of classical composition and the freedom of jazz ideally unite. The sound masses move with incredible precision, led by the subtle trumpet of a Miles Davis immersed in his music.
