Now!! is the second album by Japanese pianist Masaru Imada and his first release for the legendary Three Blind Mice label. Leading his quartet featuring Ichiro Mimori on saxophone, Takashi Mizuhashi on bass and Masahiko Ozu on drums, Imada develops a modern jazz where lyricism, modal jazz and long improvisations coexist. Compositions such as the melancholic “Nostalgia” or the elegant and modal “Gehi Dorian” perfectly illustrate the richness of his writing and his piano playing. An emblematic session from the early days of Three Blind Mice and the remarkable creativity of Japanese jazz in the 70s. This SACD Hybrid reissue benefits from a new remastering as part of the Three Blind Mice Premium Reissue Collection.
