Over the space of two decades, M83 has firmly established itself as an artist whose work transcends simple escapism in favor of the true construction of an imaginary world. Whether through his acclaimed studio albums, film soundtracks, or compositions for shows, Anthony Gonzalez has proven that nothing surpasses his ability to perfectly capture a time, an emotion, or a specific place. On Fantasy, the characteristic M83 chills are plentiful. M83’s work has always lent itself to dreamers, to those who, like him, have a goal to reach beyond the limits of our modern existence. With Fantasy, M83 once again demonstrates his innate ability to move seamlessly from the soundtrack of life’s greatest triumphs to that of its greatest defeats.
