The Levi Harvey Trio is made up of young, talented musicians who are very active on the Paris jazz scene: Levi Harvey on piano, Cyril Drapé on double bass, and Pierre-Eden Guilbaud on drums. At just 23 years old, Levi Harvey is already among the best of his generation. This young Franco-British musician discovered his passion for jazz very early on while listening to his father’s records. Inspired by the music of Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis and many others, he began playing piano at the age of 11, first as a self-taught musician, then at music school. In 2017, he joined the jazz class at the Conservatoire d’Angers, led by Pierrick Menuau, before moving to Paris in 2020, where he joined the jazz and improvised music class at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP), led by Riccardo Del Fra. There he studied notably with renowned French pianists such as Hervé Sellin and Pierre de Bethmann. Originally specialized in the bebop jazz style, Levi Harvey draws inspiration from a wide range of artists, from Bud Powell and McCoy Tyner to Keith Jarrett, as well as Pierre de Bethmann, Immanuel Wilkins and Sullivan Fortner. He graduated from the CNSMDP in 2023, the same year he won First Prize at the International Jazz Piano Competition in Chorus Lausanne. These three years at the CNSMDP were above all an opportunity to meet other musicians as passionate and dedicated as he is within his class. One of them is Cyril Drapé, a double bassist with whom he now collaborates on many projects, including the Lurium sextet, Juliette Delas’s trio, and Loan Buathier’s quintet. Paris jazz clubs were the second major meeting place for musical encounters, during concerts and jam sessions. It was there that he met the third member of the trio: Pierre-Eden Guilbaud, a drummer from Réunion who has lived in Paris since he was 16. In 2022, he left to live in New York to learn from the greatest musicians in the genre. Upon his return in early 2024, the three musicians came together to work on the original music written by Levi Harvey. All three share the same desire to refine their artistic practice and explore the modern jazz style in which they recognize themselves and find common ground, drawing inspiration from the trios of musicians who have influenced them, such as Keith Jarrett, Robert Glasper, Aaron Parks, Pierre de Bethmann and Sullivan Fortner. After several concerts in Paris and Switzerland, the trio recorded its first album in October 2025 at Sextant studio, under the artistic direction of Pierre de Bethmann. The release on the Sunset Records label of this album produced by Stéphane Portet is scheduled for next March. Levi Harvey Trio has been selected as a 2026 Talent Jazz Adami and will be alongside Chilean saxophonist Melissa Aldana. A tour will take place at the biggest festivals: Jazz sous les pommiers, Jazz à Vienne, Jazz à la Villette… Levi Harvey’s first album will be released on March 27 on Sunset Records / Baco, with a date on May 18 at the Festival Jazz à Saint Germain.
