This 19-track double CD set by the obscure German death metal band Lemming Project features their 2 only studio albums, originally released in 1991 and 1992, via Noise Records. For fans of MORGOTH, OBITUARY, ASPHYX, MANGLED TORSOS. CD 1 contains their first studio album, “Extinction,” released in 1991. CD 2 contains their second album, “Hate And Despise,” released in 1992. Formed in Dortmund in 1986, Lemming Project stood out as an exception on the emerging death metal scene. Their unconventional approach to songwriting, aggressive live shows, and committed lyrics set them apart from the darker metal bands. After releasing a demo in 1990, the band signed to Noise and joined their roster of emerging metal acts, including Helloween, Kreator and Running Wild. However, Lemming Project was completely out of step with the rest of the label, favoring a more underground approach. With sporadic touring and a preference for intimate shows in squats, in front of an open-minded audience drawn from the crust, punk and hardcore scenes, as well as metalheads, Lemming Project eventually fell into obscurity and disappeared after the release of its second album. Over the years, the band has gained cult status among fans of Bolt Thrower, Prophecy Of Doom, Atrocity and Amebix. This reissue includes detailed liner notes by acclaimed journalist Olivier Badin, featuring an unpublished in-depth interview with singer Hendrik Vanegrow, as well as testimonies from Gotz Vogelsang, singer and guitarist of Deathevokation. Decibel Magazine on Lemming Project: “Those who appreciate old school death metal in all its glory will find in this album a treasure that, while brutal, shines in a uniquely devilish way.”
