«Chapter One» the first album by Kimberose. 11 tracks drawing from the roots of soul while bringing the modernity of one of the most interesting groups of its generation.
Kimberly Kitson Mills is a stunning singer, a whirlwind of feeling, revisiting this now old music that is soul to give it vigor and nerve. Her voice instantly evokes the memory of the painful divas of jazz and soul, from Billie Holiday to Amy Winehouse to Nina Simone. Sunny and fragile at the same time, Kim, a young French woman of immigrant descent (with an English father and a mother who immigrated from Ghana to Paris), at 26 years old, is ready and armed to share this truth: the music of the soul still has so much to say, and so many ecstasies to offer.
Kimberose recorded a 4-track EP in 2017, which earned her a notable appearance on «Taratata», then «C à vous». Her EP immediately ranked among the best-selling French albums, thanks to the track «I’m Sorry». The venues will grow, welcoming Kimberose in early 2018, for a tour that promises to be enchanting. Because while the EP and live performances of Kimberose remained in a very classic style, this first album will dare to borrow from more modern, pop territories, but in opposition to formatting.
