For over forty years, Benny Green has been hailed as one of the reference jazz pianists in the trio format. With *Renovation*, his first public solo piano recording, Green embraces the freedom of the solo format while drawing on an experience forged alongside Betty Carter, Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, Ray Brown, and Oscar Peterson. Recorded live at Dizzy’s Club in New York, this 13-track album blends original compositions with works by Bobby Timmons, Randy Weston, Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Matt Dennis, and Tom Adair. *Renovation* captures Benny Green in all his spontaneity and expressiveness, thus confirming his place among today’s most prominent jazz pianists.
