Even after 30 years, Kontrast remains a black beacon in the vastness of the musical ocean! At dusk in 1996, four sound alchemists created their "Everblack" — the track "Einheitsschritt" ("Three Steps Forward and Three Back"), an irresistible anthem for the dance floors of the independent scene. A series of club hits followed: "Tod ... find' ich gut!" (1998), "80er Jahre" (2007), and "Durchbruch" (2008) — their first number one on the German GEWC (German Electronic Web Charts) — which shook the dance floors like a sound golem breaking its chains. The album *Vision und Tradition* (2008) also topped the GEWC for weeks. "John Maynard" (2014) swept through the German alternative charts like a ghost aboard a burning ship. The reissue of their first album, *Kontrast: Programm* (2022), also reached second place, once again shaking the foundations of the DAC (Deutsche Alternative Charts). Their new album, *Imperium*, is a demonstration of monumental power; released by the iconic Danse Macabre Records, it comes in the form of two distinct vinyls (Part 1: *Tyrannis*; Part 2: *Proteus*) and, alternatively, a complete CD encompassing the entire work — a release that casts its imposing shadow from autumn 2024. With their titanic track "Tanzmaschinen," Dirk, Falko, Roberto, and their charming "spirit of the fog" have conquered the top spot on the DAC. Meanwhile, "D3r Diktator" has risen to the top of both the DAC and the GEWC, executing a devilish maneuver that also granted Kontrast the highly coveted number one spot for Christmas! These singles have been the perfect ambassadors of "Imperium" — a (double) album that has stormed the bastions of the music world.
