Looping riffs, incantatory percussion and tension that never lets up: in 2026, Dééfait affirms the singular identity of the Franco-Mexican quintet after a notable first EP. Recorded at Black Box Studios in Angers under the direction of Peter Deimel, then mixed by Andy Blundell (Gnod), this debut album develops a language where krautrock, noise rock, psychedelia and proto-punk intersect in a form of collective trance. Singing alternately in French, English and Spanish, Ric Lara draws the compositions into a universe where timbre, rhythm and repetition take precedence over narrative, supported by the intertwined guitars of Lucas Valero and Grégoire Couvert. More cohesive and ambitious than its predecessor, Dééfait confirms the band’s determination to build a dense and immersive body of work, driven by raw energy and an unapologetic taste for sonic experimentation.
