With “Artifice Dissolves,” Dissimulator from Montreal accelerates beyond the formidable sonic coordinates established by “Résistance à la Forme Inférieure” and plunges headfirst into a future world where technological hegemony and catastrophic entropy coexist in perfect balance. Their jagged science-fiction Death-Thrash has evolved into an increasingly labyrinthine construction, fusing jagged riff matrices and volatile rhythmic architecture into a neural hack that annihilates algorithms. “Artifice Dissolves” propels itself like a detached artificial consciousness rewriting its own code recursively, each movement revealing another phantasmagorical dimension within Dissimulator’s bionic mythology. Razor-wire guitar lines, foreign yet familiar, cross at impossible angles while the rhythm section drives tracks like “Alloyed” and “Neon Metropolis” through perpetual states of increasing speed, collapse, and rebuilding, creating a sense of rising momentum, indifferent to its relentless complexity. A striking convergence of futuristic world-building and unrestrained, uncompromising technical aggression, “Artifice Dissolves” is a cyborg hallucination of a civilization wasting away in the sunless gutters of its autonomous megacities, the feverish dreams distorted of an omniscient divine machine, and the harmful effects of its cybernetic enhancements. And beneath the album’s dazzling precision and violent drive, Dissimulator maintains a timeless human quest for order and transcendence beyond technology. • Second album by the Canadian Sci-fi Technical Deaththrash band • Artwork by Noah Cutter Meihoff (Ghost, Imperial Triumphant) • Members of Chthe'ilist, Atramentus, Beyond Creation, Incandescence • FFO: Obliveon, Sadus, Voivod, Cryptic Shift, Miscreance, Vektor, Watchtower, Atheist, Hexx, Decapitated, Meshuggah 1.
