Jazz and Latin music carried by an irresistible talent! More than seventeen years after leaving his homeland, Uruguay, the one who regularly accompanies Mark Turner and Ben Street reconnects with his roots, the influences that have marked him, and celebrates his cultural heritage. His choice of compositions is highly personal: with titles notably by Gato Barbieri and Ernesto Lecuona, we find cultural references to Argentina and Cuba, countries where Pinera studied. He is also inspired by traditional "candombe," a musical genre originating from Uruguay. Pinera's encounters with Latin American music, and with jazz in all its breadth, have led him to develop a recognizable style: through the combination of his advanced conception of rhythm and improvisation, jazz and Latin music, this album becomes a portrait of the artist, in which he takes us on a journey, carried by an irresistible energy. FOR THOSE WHO LOVE Chucho Valdés, Cachaito, Ray Barretto, Horacio Hernandez, Michel Camilo, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Tito Puente, Danilo Perez, Arturo O'Farrill, etc.
