Produced by Robert "Mutt" Lange (responsible for the sound of High'n'Dry, their previous record, and the legendary albums of AC/DC), Pyromania is packed with anthems built for success: the unstoppable glam chorus of "Rock Of Ages" (and its intro sampled twenty years later by The Offspring), the polished hard rock guitars of "Photograph" and the essential ballad "Foolin' " will propel this album to the very top of the charts (the second best-selling album of the year with nine million copies sold, just behind Michael Jackson's Thriller). Alas, the Sheffield band would experience horror a year later with the car accident that left their drummer Rick Allen an amputee. But he would continue to play, at the cost of fierce determination, to champion within Def Leppard this hard rock of excellent quality.
