From 1771 onward, Gaetano Brunetti was the master of the music played in the chamber of the Prince of Asturias, future King Charles IV, being responsible not only for composing new music for the evenings of his illustrious patron, but also for choosing the repertoire to be heard. From this privileged position, Brunetti helped spread in Spain the musical innovations coming from the rest of Europe, notably from Paris and Vienna. The string quartet can be considered the king of chamber ensembles. A place where a polite and enlightened dialogue is established between the instruments, leaving behind the hierarchy imposed by Baroque music. With this album, light is shed on the early years of the genre in Spain through an elegant and refined language. For this reason, and for many others as well, these six quartets are a true jewel of Spanish chamber music of the 18th century that will be a delightful discovery for all listeners.
