Ceremony, formed in the Netherlands in 1989, returns with Retribution, its second studio album since its inception. The band operates in a blackened death metal style, combining the structures of traditional death metal with elements from black metal. Between its two albums, the band also released several EPs. Retribution marks a return to activity after a long period of inactivity. The band stands out with a lineup that does not include a bassist, relying solely on the work of the guitars to build its sonic power.
