It includes pianist and musical director Renee Rosnes, tenor saxophonist Melissa Aldana, clarinetist Anat Cohen, trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, bassist Noriko Ueda, drummer Allison Miller, and singer Cécile McLorin Salvant, thus drawing on the powerful collective voice of a septet of visionary leaders and composers. This first album is a superb collection of nine songs composed and/or arranged by each of the six instrumentalists in the group. ARTEMIS unfolds with a dynamic, surprisingly eclectic flow.
