Antoine Corriveau is a Montreal singer-songwriter. Arriving on the music scene in 2011, it was in 2014 that he made his mark with the acclaimed Les Ombres Longues, then Cette chose qui cognait au creux de sa poitrine sans vouloir s’arrêter, released in 2016 and receiving numerous awards in Canada. In 2020, the album Pissenlit cemented the artist’s melodic and literary talent and delighted critics. The artist returns with a fourth album, Oiseau de Nuit, a lush and explosive sonic offering. The primary desire behind the creation of Oiseau de Nuit was to draw on the production codes of hip-hop, without falling into the trap of a style exercise. Interested in further exploring the collage approach brushed on his previous record, Corriveau got his hands on an important collection of vinyl records, with the goal of creating a sampling record. However, feeling constrained by it quite quickly, he chose to create custom samples for himself, inviting a myriad of musicians to come and record improvisations at his studio. The energy of these improvisations truly blew open the limits of his songs, where melodies leaning toward RnB rub shoulders with sprawling lyrics delivered without ever catching his breath.
