At a time when careers are made and broken at lightning speed, often due to the lack of talent or innovation of the 'artists' in question, a few rare exceptions break the rule, and Adele is one of them, as she proves with her second album, 21. Many discovered Adele with her unstoppable 2008 hit, Chasing Pavements, others through the many film or TV syncs. In just a few months, Adele became essential, winning two Grammy Awards in the United States and selling more than three million copies of her first album 19. The talented artist proves with her new album that she is here to stay, and for a long time. The first single Rolling In The Deep is the perfect illustration of this. Produced by Paul Epworth (Plan B, Florence & The Machine, Bloc Party), the track opens directly on the breathtaking bluesy voice of the English singer and gradually turns into a gospel/disco track! Adele changes direction but does not forget what made her successful, with sublime ballads such as Someone Like You or Turning Tables that should delight her fans! The second album is often considered the one of maturity, and we must admit that this is the case here. The themes remain the same but under a different light. The songs that make up 21 are much more adult, certainly due to the production of the legendary Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Jay-Z,.) with whom Adele collaborates for the first time. She also cites various influences for this album such as Wanda Jackson, Yvonne Fair, Andrew Bird, Mary J Blige, Elbow or even Kanye West. Recorded between Malibu and London, 21 could well be the album that brings this unique artist, only 21 years old, to full recognition in France.
