Considered a classic of New York hip-hop, People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm did not achieve the commercial success hoped for by Q-Tip and his companions. Marked by the soul-jazz influences that would become the group's trademark, this album would become the foundation of a rap free from the codes of gangsta rap. Far removed from the turmoil of a hip-hop characterized by the spontaneous violence of American ghettos, ATCQ, alongside De La Soul and the Jungle Brothers, would outline the contours of a more subdued hip-hop. On this first album, the subtle beats and unique flow of Q-Tip blend admirably with jazzy samples. Excerpt from the Guide "La Discothèque idéale Fnac" 2016.
