About
Simon & Garfunkel, 1960s American folk rock duo from New York's Queens district.
Simon & Garfunkel began their collaboration in 1963, releasing their debut album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. in 1964. Their music integrates folk rock with pop elements, featuring acoustic guitars and vocal harmonies. Following early commercial challenges and a brief split, they released a string of influential albums throughout the late 1960s including Sounds Of Silence (1966), Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (1966), and Bookends (1968).
The duo contributed the soundtrack for the 1967 film The Graduate, heightening their profile. Their 1970 studio album Bridge Over Troubled Water achieved significant commercial success, topping charts for six weeks and earning multiple Grammy Awards.
