About
Madness, British ska and pop from Camden Town since 1976.
Madness originated in the UK as part of the Two-Tone movement that brought ska to wider audiences alongside contemporaries like The Specials and The Selecter. The original lineup included Mike Barson on keyboards, Chris Foreman on guitar, Lee Thompson on saxophone, and Suggs (Graham McPherson) on vocals. Their early releases paid homage to ska pioneer Prince Buster, with tracks like “The Prince” and “One Step Beyond” gaining notable attention.
The band’s discography spans over 14 vinyl albums available on Vinyles.com, illustrating their movement from ska roots to more pop and Brit pop sounds. They took a hiatus in the mid-1980s but regrouped for performances and new albums from the 1990s onward, maintaining an enduring presence in British pop music.
